7 Ways to Find More Customers with No Marketing Budget

Running a small business is never ending.....in the best way possible!


But finding customers....it can sometimes be a challenge. I hear you, and I've been there. You have an amazing product or service, but just can't seem to get enough pairs of eyes to see how good what you have to offer is!


One thing I hear on a regular basis is, 'How do I find more customers?' - AND, how do I do it with little or no marketing budget.


A great place to start is getting a broad understanding of all areas of marketing - I like to call this Marketing 101. By starting broad, you can get a greater understanding of what marketing is, how it works, and where you can then target your time to work on growing your biz organically. I really believe in an all rounder approach to marketing when it comes to growing a business, and not just focusing on one channel, for example, growing on Instagram only. Sure, this works for some, but there are so many other ways you can generate leads and sales.   1. Email Marketing - having your own email database is a gold mine. If they've engaged with your business at any point (enquiry or sale), then they're a lead.   3. Your Website - I know of many businesses who believe that their Facebook page, or Etsy store is enough these days. I'd like to challenge this and say, I don't think it is.   4. Social Media Funnels - whether you love them or hate them, social media platforms are here to stay, and are free traffic for your business. Don't think of social media as a burden, but as an opportunity for people who don't have a clue who you are or what you have to offer, to find you. Social media is free traffic, you just need to get their attention in all the chaos.
  5. Facebook Groups - groups are another gold mine and are an amazing way to network with other local businesses, and connect with professionals who may need your services or product.
  6. Free Online Directories - there are loads of online directories where you can list your business for free, and this is particularly important to take advantage of if you're a location based business. The more times your business is mentioned in the WWW, the better. You also want links from these directory sites through to your own website as this is good for SEO.
  7. Building Relationships with like Minded Professionals - collaboration is one way your business can innovate. By joining forces with other businesses you can bring new expertise and ideas to the forefront of your customers’ minds. You can network at free local events, at your local business chamber, in online groups, on live events. There's lots of places to explore and show what you do and how you can help. Remember to always add value!
